F1 News – No Change At Mercedes

Formula One‘s Ross Brawn is set to remain on at Mercedes group despite speculation connecting him with a move to Honda, reports said on Friday.

Team chairman Niki Lauda had rubbished promises Brawn was attempting to leace, and motorists Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg both urged him to remain.

“I’m not trying to go anywhere else,” Brawn, 58, informed Autosport in front of the Japanese Grand Prix.

“The team have come far in this last year, but we’ve got to ensure it keeps going that way,” he included.

“The following 12 months is going to be extremely interesting, using the brand new engine, and I also believe this engineering team, under (technical manager) Bob Bell, has got a lot more to offer.

“But we all have to realize what we are here for and make sure we’re all inspired by them.”

Mercedes’ administration underwent restructuring in the last 12 months, the F1 Mercedes team setting up Toto Wolff as its brand-new motorsport manager to change Norbert Haug.

Lauda was added into the mix, with a non-executive part, to give help with certain issues. Paddy Lowe also being recruited and expected to sooner or later come to be Brawn’s successor.

Hamilton, world champ with McLaren in 2008 and a champion for Mercedes in Hungary earlier on this year, paid credit to Brawn for his choice to change from McLaren for the start of the season.

Paddock rumours have connected Brawn with Honda, whom will supply the engine for McLaren from 2015.

Brawn oversaw Honda’s final foray into Formula One, buying out the Japanese producer to create Brawn GP in 2009 and win the entire world title with F1’s Jenson Button.
