1954 Ferrari Wins Best Of Show At 2014 Concours d’Elegance

The 1954 Ferrari 375MM Scaglietti Coupe was named as Best in Show for the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Despite the renown of the Ferrari marque, it was the first time ever that a Ferrari had won Pebble Beach’s top prize as well as the first time in 46 years that a post-World War II car had won. This particular car was originally ordered by the world-famous Italian filmmaker, Roberto Rossellini [“Paisan”] and originally styled by the equally famous coachbuilder Pinin Farina. It was involved in an accident that required new bodywork and Scaglietti was commissioned to provide the replacement aluminum body – its very first work on a Ferrari chassis. Rossellini eventually sold the car and after going through a few owners, it was resigned to meet its fate, abandoned in an underground garage in Paris, until it was fully restored in 1995.
