2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance: 1957 Ferrari 410 Superamerica

The Gooding and Company auction at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will not take place until the weekend but viewing of the cars available begins today and one of the signature cars up for auction will be the 1957 Ferrari 410 Superamerica purchased by the Shah of Iran which eventually went to his Queen, Soraya. After their divorce – due to her infertility – in 1958, Soraya was given the vehicle but eventually sold it to Tom Barrett [of Barrett-Jackson auction fame] and from there it went through a series of owners including Greg Garrison [director of the Dean Martin Variety television shows in the 1960s] before coming to the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance from current owner, noted Ferrari collector Wayne Nelson of Florida.

The 1957 Ferrari 410 Superamerica – with a specially constructed interior configuration so that either the taller Shah and shorter Soraya could drive it comfortably – is being auctioned for a price between $5 and $6 million.
