2020 Chinese Grand Prix Postponed

Not surprisingly, the 2020 Chinese Grand Prix has been postponed as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. The FIA, Formula One’s governing body, has accepted a request from Chinese organizers to postpone the race that was due to be held in Shanghai on April 19, 2020.

Race authorities from the Chinese Grand Prix and Formula 1 must now meet to discuss potential new dates for the race or even complete cancellation.

“We will leave open the opportunity to see if the race can run later in the year,” said F1 managing director Ross Brawn.

There have now been more than 40,000 cases of the new coronavirus strain worldwide, and it has been declared a global health emergency, with the death toll in China currently standing at 1,016 deaths.
