2020 Chinese Grand Prix Remains In Jeopardy As Shanghai Suspends Sporting Events

Formula One’s 2020 Chinese Grand Prix remains in doubt as sports authorities in Shanghai have recommended the suspension of all sporting events in the city as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. The 2020 Chinese Grand Prix is currently scheduled to be held in Shanghai on April 19, 2020.

Formula One may be forced to cancel, delay or postpone the 2020 Chinese Grand Prix as the coronavirus threat has already cancelled a Formula E event in nearby Sanya, hwich had been scheduled for mid-March.

The Shanghai Sports General Association instructed sports bodies to suspend events until the threat from the virus is over. The World Health Organization has declared a global health emergency – with the number of cases in China totaling more than 24,300 [along with 490 reported deaths].
