2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Postponed Due To Flooding

The 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix has been postponed for this weekend due to localized flooding in the Imola region in Italy.

Formula One issued a statement calling off the race and Formula 1 president and chief executive officer Stefano Domenicali added his thoughts.

“The decision that has been taken is the right one for everyone in the local communities and the F1 family as we need to ensure safety and not create extra burden for the authorities while they deal with this very awful situation.”

The 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix had originally been scheduled to make up for the loss of the 2023 Chinese Grand Prix, which was cancelled due to continuing Covid-19 restrictions in that country and although the race is temporarily a postponement as F1 looks at options for rescheduling, it is likely to be an outright cancellation due to the already-crowded 2023 race calendar.
