Abt Gets New Ride For Remainder Of 2020 Formula E Season

Formula E driver Daniel Abt, who was fired by Audi after having a professional gamer impersonate him in Formula E’s Race@Home esports series, has signed on with Chinese team Nio 333 as a driver for the remaining six races of the 2020 Formula E season.

The 27-year-old Abt will drive for the Nio 333 team in the six season-finale races in Berlin which begin on August 5, 2020.

Abt was fired from the Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler team in May after using a professional gamer to impersonate him during the series.

Abt has driven in Formula E since 2014 but has only two race wins in that time.

Abt, will partner with British driver Oliver Turvey at Nio, replacing Chinese driver Ma Qing Hua.

Portuguese driver Antonio Felix da Costa currently leads the title standings for DS Techeetah, before the suspension of the season because of the coronavirus pandemic. Jaguar’s Mitch Evans sits second behind da Costa, 11 points behind.
