The Alfa Romeo Formula One team has collaborated with Vermont-based distillery WhistlePig to help launch the third whiskey in their PiggyBack Legends Series – dubbed with the lengthy but appropriate moniker of WhistlePig Single Barrel PiggyBack Legends Series Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel.
WhistlePig Single Barrel Piggyback Legends Series Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is a rye whiskey whose barrels were subjected to Alfa Romeo’s wind tunnel in Switzerland, then, subsequently, “varying levels of G-forces” at the WhistlePig distillery, bottled at 48.385% alcohol by volume (96.77 proof), in deference to team driver Valtteri Bottas’ racing number of 77, before being finished with lychee and oolong tea as a tribute to Bottas’ Alfa Romeo teammate, Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese driver in the Formula 1 racing series.
The limited edition WhistlePig Single Barrel Piggyback Legends Series Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is being made available for $50 per 750ml bottle in the USA.
Additionally, consumers can win VIP merchandise by scanning the QR code on the back of each bottle.
