Alfa Romeo Keeps Giovinazzi And Old Man Raikkonen For 2021 Season

Alfa Romeo has announced that they will be keeping 41-year-old former Formula One world champion Kimi Raikkonen as well as Antonio Giovinazzi for a third consecutive year in the 2021 racing season.

The Finn, Raikkonen, won the F1 world championship for Ferrari in 2007 and broke the record for number of Grand Prix starts in this, his 18th season in F1.

Giovinazzi, meanwhile, initially moved up from being Ferrari’s reserve driver.

Alfa Romeo has a grand total of five points in the truncated 2020 racing season – with Giovinazzi garnering three of those points and Raikkonen claiming the other two. Alfa Romeo currently sits a distant eighth in the constructors’ championship with five races to go this season and has spent much of 2020 season in a life-or-death struggle with fellow backmarker teams Williams and Haas.
