Alonso Wins 2018 LeMans With Toyota

Fernando Alonso – along with teammates Sebastian Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima – won the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race for Toyota, which had never won the fabled endurance motor race.

With no major automobile manufacturers in the race, Toyota had little competition though, as the SMP and Rebellion teams in their hybrid class were, outclassed.

Alonso joined Toyota’s World Endurance Championship (WEC) team this year with the express intent of winning Le Mans, and completing the second leg of motor racing’s so-called Triple Crown consisting of LeMans, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500.

Alonso’s teammates Buemi and Nakajima are former F1 drivers.

Alonso returns to Formula One with McLaren at next weekend’s French Grand Prix.
