Another Official Bails On The FiA

The FiA – Formula One’s governing body – has seen the departure of yet another top official from its ranks, with the loss of engineer Tim Goss who left his role as the FiA’s single-seater technical director. Goss now becomes the third senior official to quit the FIA in the last 30 days, following the departures of sporting director Steve Nielsen and the FIA’s commission for women leader, Deborah Mayer.

Nielsen is expected to be replaced by Canadian Tim Malyon – the FIA’s safety director since 2021 – but no replacement has yet been announced by the FiA for either Goss or Mayer.

Niels Wittich is expected to continue in his role of race director, taking that position in 2022 after the departure of former rogue FiA race director Michael Masi, who infamously deprived seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton of his eighth world title after making a series of incorrect race rule applications in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix fiasco.
