Another Pit Decision Determines Charlotte 600 Winner – Carl Edwards

Just as a pit decision determined the outcome for the day’s first big race – the 2015 Monaco Grand Prix – another pit decision determined the winner of NASCAR’s Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Just like the Formula One scenario that saw Lewis Hamilton come into the pits late and lose his surefire win, in the NASCAR race, it was Denny Hamlin who was on his way to a sure victory when he decided to come in for a pit stop with less than 10 laps remaining and Carl Edwards did not. Edwards’ pit crew’s decision to stay out on the track resulted in his first NASCAR win since last summer. Greg Biffle captured second and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. finished third.

In the season standings for the Sprint Cup, Kevin Harvick still holds a commanding lead with 473 points to 432 points for Martin Truex, Jr. in second place and Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano holding third place with 407 points.
