Aston Martin complained that all the multiple occurrences of “exceeding track limits” – and penalties that may come with them – at yesterday’s 2023 Austrian Grand Prix had not been applied and the FiA [Formula 1’s governing body] agreed and that resulted in demotions for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Jr. – who dropped from fourth place to sixth place and Mercedes’ seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, who dropped from seventh place to eighth place.
Alpine’s Esteban Ocon also received a demotion – to 14th place.
