It is far from definite, but Aston Martin say they will “probably” enter Formula 1 in 2021 as an engine supplier if F1 makes rule changes that Aston Martin deem to be affordable to make their F1 debut.
Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said he wants to use F1 as a marketing platform as he seeks to expand Aston Martin’s range of road cars and is working with Red Bull to try to influence a change in engine rules.
Palmer said a potentially acceptable engine budget for Aston Martin by 2021 would be in “the 10s of millions”.
