Aston Martin Withdraws Sebastian Vettel Appeal For 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix

Aston Martin has formally withdrawn their appeal of Sebastian Vettel’s disqualification after Vettel was DQ’ed from his second place finish in the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix when it was determined that his car did not not meet the post-race fuel requirement.

Vettel was disqualified from the race when his car was found to have only 0,3 liters of fuel when it was supposed to have the mandatory one liter of fuel remaining for post-race testing.

Aston Martin had initially submitted additional evidence to the FiA – the governing body of Formula One – but that evidence was deemed irrelevant and Aston Martin then withdrew their appeal.

Had the result stood, Vettel’s second place finish would have been Aston Martin’s best result of the season – albeit due to extremely unusual race circumstances – and would have moved them to within two points of Alpha Tauri in sixth place in the constructors’ championship.
