Audi and Volvo announced that they will build Google’s Android Auto OS into their next generation of car infotainment systems, allowing owners of those cars to find locations with Google Maps, listen to Spotify or use Google Assistant for help – even if you leave your smartphone somewhere other than in your car.
Additionally, Volvo said recent Volvo models will be updated by adding Google Local Search, a location-based service application via an update to customers with Sensus Navigation.
Google’s Android Auto, introduced in 2014, is currently in 300 car models — after debuting in Hyundai cars in 2015 – but the newest version in Audi and Volvo will have the operating system integrate directly into the car and consumers will no longer need to use their smartphone other than to transfer and update information.
