Audi Shows Off Laser Lights At 2014 CES

Back in the day, lasers were used for firing on alien spaceships or if you were a James Bond-type, evil villains. But now Audi is showing that aside from annoying airline pilots from the ground, lasers can be used in headlights and to prove it, they will be showing off their laser headlights in a plug-in hybrid Sport Quattro concept car at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The lasers will be deployed when you switch on the high beams and enable you to either see 1640 feet ahead of you or blind the oncoming traffic from that distance. The Sport Quattro concept not only has laser lights but also has a new color – plasma red – to go along with the yellow version and the car is reported to have a top speed of 190 mph from its V8 engine.

The 2014 Consumer Electronics Show [CES] runs from January 7-10 at the various locations in Las Vegas, Nevada.
