In today’s episode of ASN’s newly created “Back in the Day” feature, Edsel Ford drove a 1915 Model T Ford nearly [it might as well have been, considering the time frame] across the country, leaving Detroit and heading for San Francisco to appear at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition where he intended to showcase the car. The 3500-mile journey took 34 days and crossed terrain that is challenging today – never mind in 1915 with a Model T – and is re-created by the Historic Vehicle Association.
The re-creation of Edsel Ford’s trip is approximately halfway to its destination and you can follow the rest of the trip through its completion at Edsel Ford Drive’s Re-Enactment.
