Bernie Bribes His Way Out Of German Bribery Trial

on

Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone was embroiled in a bribery trial in Germany where he was accused of bribing German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky in 2006, however, a segment of German law allows wealthy defendants the option to buy their way out of the trial and that is exactly what Ecclestone has chosen to do – to the tune of $100 million.

$99 million of Ecclestone’s bribe will be paid to the German national treasury and the remaining $1 million will go to a German children’s hospice charity.
