Bernie Ecclestone And F1 Sign Agreement With Imola

Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone and Formula One have signed an agreement with legendary race circuit Imola to host a Formula One race but it has the look of being more of a negotiating ploy as Monza officials claim the Italian Grand Prix is still likely to remain at their track in the near future.

Ecclestone previously suggested there were some contract issues regarding Monza’s renewal as the long-term site for the Italian Grand Prix but Monza officials have said those contract issues have since been cleared up [i.e. Bernie and F1 get more money].

Imola last hosted the San Marino Grand Prix in 2006 but is probably best remembered as the site of the death of F1 racing legend Ayrton Senna in a 1994 crash.
