Bernie Props Pirelli While Rosberg Backs Vettel In TireGate
To absolutely nobody’s surprise, chief Formula One crusty barnacle, Bernie Ecclestone, backed Pirelli’s version of blaming track debris, curb-hitting and Ferrari’s risk-taking strategy for Sebastian Vettel’s Belgian blowout at Spa-Francorchamps last month. Ecclestone, who was behind the decision to establish Pirelli as the tire manufacturer, also supported the F1 rules which demand that Pirelli provide sub-par tires so that races are more “challenging and entertaining” rather than supplying a tire which will last the entire race or greater portions of a race without degradation.
