Bernie Will Ditch Double Points In 2015

Bernie apologized to Force India, Lotus and Sauber for calling them beggars.

Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone has already dismissed the notion of having the final three races of the 2015 F1 racing season be double-points affairs – and now he indicates that the double points season finale race idea may be history as well. Ecclestone created the idea of awarding double points in each of the final three races of the 2014 F1 season but the teams rebelled against that plan and Ecclestone scaled back his idea to only award double-points in the race season finale at Abu Dhabi.

Still, teams did not like that either as it de-emphasized results gained throughout th season and minimized the importance of other signatures races [such as the Monaco Grand Prix]. Now, Ecclestone has decided he will no longer pursue a three-race, double-points plan for 2015 and is skeptical that he will push for a season finale double-points race for next season.

The final race of the season takes place at Abu Dhabi on November 23, 2014.
