BMW will offer their classic M [Motorsport] logo along with special paint colors on select BMW M automobiles in 2022 in celebration of their 50th anniversary of performance and racing cars.
Customers in the USA who order after January 2022 can select an option of a BMW M high-performance automobile – with a production date from March 2022 – adorned with emblems inspired by the classic “BMW Motorsport” logo on their vehicle’s front, rear and wheel hubs as an alternative to the conventional BMW logo.
Additionally, BMW is offering 50 – another nod to their performance and racing anniversary – historically significant BMW M paint finishes for select models during the anniversary year. Colors include Dakar Yellow, Fire Orange, Daytona Violet, Macao Blue, lmola Red or Frozen Marina Bay Blue.
The BMW logo with the shifted semicircles in blue, violet and red was first used in 1973 on the racing cars of BMW Motorsport GmbH, which had been established a year before – the blue stands for BMW, while the red symbolizes racing and the violet is the collaboration between the two.
