BMW Unveils Massive 31-Inch Backseat Theatre Screen At CES 2022

BMW is at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and has revealed their new in-car technology – a massive 31-inch, backseat viewing device they are calling Theatre Screen – which will be made available to consumers at an undetermined date in the future.

BMW’s Theatre Screen will supposedly emerge from the roofs of their luxury cars [most likely the 7 Series], descending to transform the back seats into a “private cinema lounge.” BMW claims that the screen has an 8K resolution of roughly 8000 x 2000 and can play content with a 16:9, 21:9, or 32:9 aspect ratio and will be using Amazon’s Fire OS operating system. It’s a touchscreen display, and there are also small touchpad controls built into the rear doors of the car.

Additionally, BMW’s Theatre Mode will include a system consisting of more than 30 speakers from Bowers & Wilkins and the cars will be equipped with “roller sunblinds for the side windows and the rear window are closed and the ambient lighting in the rear of the vehicle dimmed.”
