In probably the least surprising news since Nutella on a doughnut was announced to be a good idea, Valtteri Bottas has signed with the Mercedes Formula One team to take over the spot vacated by the retiring 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg.
Bottas left Williams where his spot will be absorbed by Felipe Massa, who had previously announced his retirement but was convinced to stay for another year.
However, Mercedes did not exactly embrace Bottas – offering the Finn only a one-year deal with an option for more depending on his results.
