Williams’ Valtteri Bottas was the fastest around the track while Lotus’ Pastor Maldonado found the wall in the final day of testing at the Catalunya track in Barcelona, Spain, before the first race of the year in the 2015 Formula One racing season. Bottas threw down a 1:23.0 lap, fending off Ferrari’s four-time champion Sebastian Vettel at 1:23.4 and Sauber’s Felipe Nasr in 1:24.0 for the top three times of the day.
Lotus said Maldonado experienced a systems-induced brake failure at Turn 4 as the reason behind his crash.
