Bottas Wins 2017 Austrian Grand Prix Ahead Of Vettel

Valtteri Bottas got a tremendous start and then held off a charging Sebastian Vettel at the finish to capture his first-ever Austrian Grand Prix victory and second Formula One win of the year. Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo was third to complete the podium.

Bottas had the pole and Vettel sat right next to him in the first row but the start that Bottas got out of his Mercedes was so good that Vettel complained that he thought he may have jumped the start, however, upon further examination, the race stewards determined that to not be the case. Bottas led from start-to-finish with Vettel and Ricciardo trailing the entire time.

With the result, Vettel accumulates 171 points – and is now 20 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton, who started in eighth and finished fourth in the race – with Bottas sitting in third with 136 points.
