Taking a page from the Nico Rosberg Retirement Handbook, NASCAR driver Carl Edwards is retiring from motorsports effective immediately and will not compete in the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Joe Gibbs Racing is expected to announce that Daniel Suarez will replace Edwards in the No. 19 for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Suarez is the reigning Xfinity Series champion.

The 37-year-old Edwards has won 28 races in 445 starts over the course of 13 seasons. Edwards’ best finishes were in 2008 and 2011 where he finished second in the NASCAR championship both times.
