Carl Edwards Wins Southern 500 At Darlington

Carl Edwards came all the way back from being two laps down in the early part of NASCAR’s Southern 500 at Darlington, South Carolina, to nip pole-sitter Brad Keselowski at the finish to claim only his second victory of the season. Denny Hamlin finished third. Edwards fell back early on in the race but thanks to a record 18 caution flags during the throwback-themed race, Edwards steadily moved his way back up the field and benefitted from a late caution-caused pit stop to grab the victory.

In the season standings, current leader Kevin Harvick finished fifth and retains the season points lead with 948 points over Joey Logano, who finished fourth in this race and has 906 season points, while third place is held down by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. who has 855 points.
