Carlos Sainz, Jr. Moves To McLaren For 2019

After Fernando Alonso vacated his spot in Formula One racing at McLaren, he was quickly replaced by fellow Spaniard, Carlos Sainz, Jr. The 23-year-old Sainz, Jr. – who is currently driving for Renault – has reportedly signed a multi-year deal at McLaren.

Sainz Jr. began his F1 career with Toro Rosso in 2015 and has yet to win a Formula One race or make a podium – with his best finish coming in 2017 when he placed a distant fourth at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Currently, Sainz, Jr. has 30 points in the 2018 Formula One racing season and is in 11th place in the drivers’ championship standings.

Sainz, Jr. will join Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne as McLaren’s other driver.
