Caterham Will Be Absent From USA Grand Prix

The Caterham Formula One team is expected to be absent from the United States Grand Prix as they continue to struggle with finances – even so far as having creditors attempting to auction off bits and pieces of the team’s inventory – and Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone has granted the stricken team a two-race extension while they try and settle their affairs.

Over the summer, former Caterham team owner Tony Fernandes supposedly sold the team to a mystery Middle East-connected contingent named Engavest – but it turns out Fernandes has not relinquished full control of the team due to the fact that Engavest has not yet actually paid him the agreed-upon sale amount.

Some of the Caterham racing tires put up for auction.

The next two races in the Formula One circuit are the United States Grand Prix in Austin on November 2, 2014 and the Brazilian Grand Prix on November 9, 2014.
