Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed pole position for this weekend’s 2023 USA Grand Prix, edging out the McLaren of Lando Norris and the Mercedes of seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Leclerc and Hamilton were neck-and-neck for much of the qualifying sessions with Hamilton going quickest in the first session and Leclerc going quickest in the second session before Leclerc squeezed by in the final qualifying session.
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso was eliminated early – in the first qualifying session – while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had his lap time deleted in the final qualifying session and dropped down to sixth on the grid for Sunday’s race.
