Daniil Kvyat Demoted From Toro Rosso For A Few Races

In a blow to his chances to claim ASN’s 2017 Pastor Maldonado Driving School Award, Red Bull’s junior Formula One team, Scuderia Toro Rosso has demoted Russian driver, Daniil Kvyat, for at least the next two races – the Malaysian Grand Prix and Japanese Grand Prix – while they give a tryout to 2016 GP2 champion Pierre Gasly.

Kvyat is currently in a tight battle for ASN’s Pastor Maldonado Driving School Award for 2017, sitting one point/crash behind current leader Sergio Perez and in a four-way tie with his current Toro Rosso teammate, Carlos Sainz, Jr., Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel. But Red Bull’s demotion of Kvyat will now mean that he will have to wait until at least the USA Grand Prix to have a chance to claim the crown for 2017.

Meanwhile, Toro Rosso will see what Gasly can do for Toro Rosso in Malaysia and Japan.
