David Coulthard Has His Own Whisky – Two Of ‘Em

Former Formula One driver David Coulthard has two whiskies he can now call his own – Saltire Edition 1 and Saltire Edition 2 – both of which have been aged for 13 years [a reference to Coulthard’s 13 Grand Prix victories].

Coulthard raced for Williams/Renault, McLaren/Mercedes and Red Bull from 1994-2008, racking up those 13 wins while finishing third overall four times [1995, 1997-98 and 2000] and second in the 2001 season [behind Michael Schumacher].

In a partnership with Highland Park distillery, Coulthard’s two bottles of whisky are priced at $183 [for Saltire Edition 1] and $73 [for Saltire Edition 2]. Only 734 bottles of Saltire Edition 1 are available to purchase from the Highland Park website.

A percentage of the proceeds from the sales of both whiskies will go towards supporting charities in Dumfries, Scotland.

“I’ve enjoyed participating in the whisky creation process and I’m proud that Highland Park is helping me bring the project to life. The whiskies are inspired by my Formula One career, I had 13 Grand Prix wins and this feels like the 14th,” says Coulthard, whose saltire logo from his Formula One helmet is featured on the label alongside his signature.
