De Vries Out, Ricciardo In At Alpha Tauri

Nick de Vries has been jettisoned and Daniel Ricciardo is making a return to Formula One for Red Bull’s sister team Alpha Tauri for the remainder of the season. The 34-year-old Australian was released by McLaren last year and had joined Red Bull as a reserve driver this season and now will race at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix next weekend.

Ricciardo replaces the Dutch rookie, Nyck de Vries, who enjoyed success in Formula 2 and Formula E but was unable to translate that into success at the top level and has been dropped after only 10 races, going pointless in all 10 races.

Ricciardo has won eight grands prix in his career which, ironically, is where he found his initial F1 success at Scuderia Toro Rosso [later renamed Alpha Tauri] in 2012-13 before being promoted to Red Bull.
