Ecclestone Ditches Madrid, Considers Vegas For Future Formula One Grand Prix Site

The 2015 Formula One racing calendar is set, now it is time to look toward 2016 and beyond – and one thing is certain, according to Formula One chief, Bernie Ecclestone – there will be no Grand Prix in Madrid. With a yearly Formula One race in Barcelona, Ecclestone nixed the idea of putting another one in Madrid, however, he will consider the possibility of putting a second Formula One race on American soil when he tours Las Vegas next week to see potential track layouts for that city to host a Formula One race in the future.

The annual hosting fee paid to Ecclestone and Formula One organization is $23 million – for each course on the circuit – there are 19 races in the 2014 season, tossing nearly $450 million to Ecclestone and F1 in race hosting fees alone.

The next two race in the Formula One circuit is the United States Grand Prix in Austin on November 2, 2014.
