Ecclestone Trying To Get South Africa Back On F1 Schedule

Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone says he is working on trying to revive the South African Grand Prix for future schedules. The most recent South African Grand Prix events were held at the Kyalami circuit from 1967-93 – but the track has since been sold to Porsche and is not currently in a usable condition for F1 races.

With South Korea expected to fulfill its contractual agreement next year and then abandon F1 racing as a host, Ecclestone is seeking suitable replacement circuits for 2017 and beyond.

The first race of the 2015 Formula One racing season takes place in Melbourne, Australia on March 15, 2015.
