Carl Edwards held off hard-charging veteran Jeff Gordon to capture the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at the Sonoma Raceway in California. Gordon came charging back from 15th to catch up to the leader Edwards on the final lap, but was unable to pass Edwards on the final turn. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. finished third.
It was the first-ever win for Edwards at Sonoma – where Gordon has won five times.
