In the movie industry when a script sits idle for a decade, it usually means that film is never going to get made unless it has an evangelist and, sure enough, there is an evangelist for Enzo Ferrari’s biographical feature film – Los Angeles-based Cecchi Gori Pictures. CGP was Italy’s top film studio in the 1990s, producing Academy Award nominated and winning films such as “Il Postino” and “Life is Beautiful” but has not had as much success in the 21st century and bankruptcy issues forced the studio to sell off its library of films. Despite these speed bumps, CGP has reached an agreement with famed director Martin Scorsese to direct its next film [“Silence”], lending credence to the company and hope that the upcoming Enzo Ferrari film may get made in a timely manner.
The Enzo Ferrari biography, should it get made by CGP, will not likely see a release date until 2016.
