Disney-owned ESPN has confirmed that their esports editorial division – which includes F1 Esports – will be jettisoned.
“We have made the difficult decision to cease operations for our dedicated daily esports editorial and content,” explained an ESPN spokesperson.
The writing had already been on the wall for the division, which recently had begun relying on syndicated content from Reuters for most of its news coverage.
However, ESPN will continue to secure – on a case-by-case basis – syndicated rights to distribute live esports events across ESPN’s platforms, which will include upcoming events in V10 R-League and F1 Esports.
