Fast & Furious Animated Series Driving To Netflix

An animated version of the wildly popular “Fast & Furious” feature film franchise is coming to Netflix as a series – most likely in 2019 to accompany the next film release in the franchise. DreamWorks Animation Television will handle the animation for the series.

The storyline for the “Fast & Furious” animated series has teenager Tony Toretto following in the footsteps of his cousin Dom as he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on – what else? – world domination.

The “Fast & Furious” film franchise has been lucrative for Universal – earning more than $5 billion worldwide over the course of eight films – with the seventh film in the franchise earning just over $1 billion of that total. The next film in the franchise is currently scheduled to be released in July 2019.
