Fernando Alonso Set To Join Renault In 2021

Renault is set to confirm that former two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso will join their team for the 2021 season.

The soon-to-be 39-year-old Spaniard has been out of F1 since 2018, when he last drove for McLaren and will still try to win for that team when he makes his third attempt to win the Indianapolis 500 next month.

Alonso replaces Daniel Ricciardo – who is moving to McLaren for 2021 – and will drive alongside Frenchman Esteban Ocon.

In addition to his two world titles, Alonso has won 32 grands prix, which puts him sixth on the all-time list – although he has not won a race since the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix.
