Ferrari was fastest in the wet first practice session for this weekend’s 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as current 2022 Formula One season leader Charles Leclerc led the way followed by his teammate, Carlos Sainz, Jr. while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was a distant third.
Leclerc was 0.877 seconds quicker than Sainz, Jr. while Verstappen was a whopping 1.465secs behind the championship leader.
The Imola race track is hosting the first ‘sprint’ event of the 2022 F1 season. Qualifying sets the grid for Saturday’s sprint race, which sets the grid for the main grand prix on Sunday and awards points for the drivers who finish in the first eight positions.
