Ferrari Gets Serious About 2015 – Adds Vergne As Test Driver

Ferrari had one of its worst years in Formula One racing history in 2014, not only failing to contend for the team season championship but also failing to place a driver on the podium in the driver season championship. That prompted the legendary company to launch a scorched earth “fire everyone” off-season strategy that has resulted in several new executives but, more prominently, a driver lineup that consists of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and former world champion Kimi Raikkonen.

As if that wasn’t enough to prove Ferrari was serious about challenging Mercedes for the 2015 title, the team has recently announced the addition of first, Esteban Gutierrez, and now Jean-Eric Vergne, as test drivers for the 2015 season. Both Gutierrez and Vergne were first team drivers for Sauber and Toro Rosso last year.

The first race of the 2015 Formula One racing season takes place in Melbourne, Australia on March 15, 2015.
