Ferrari Team Boss Binotto Resigns

Ferrari Formula One team principal, Mattia Binotto, will resign his position at the end of the year, according to an announcement from Ferrari.

Binotto has been with Ferrari since 1995, having gradually climbed the company ladder from being the chief of the engine department, then the technical director of the F1 team and finally, team principal.

Ferrari, however, underachieved under Binotto in 2022. After having been handed a pair of gifts at the beginning of the season when eventual champion Red Bull was experiencing major technical issues, Ferrari and their lead driver, Charles Leclerc were unable to take advantage of Red Bull’s misfortunes and then multiple reliability failures, operational errors and in-race decision-making through the course of the season only compounded the problems.

Ferrari and Leclerc both finished distant seconds to Red Bull and Max Verstappen at the conclusion of the 2022 season.

Alfa Romeo team principal Frederic Vasseur has been widely rumored to be Binotto’s replacement.
