Ferrari Threatens Quitting Formula One

First it was Renault, now it is Ferrari’s turn to threaten quitting Formula One racing. In Ferrari’s case, it is in response to the possibility that F1 chief crusty barnacle Bernie Ecclestone will be in charge [along with FIA president Jean Todt] of uncontested rule changes for the 2017 racing season – specifically, small budget so-called “customer engines” that would be made available to smaller teams rather than have those teams have to get their engines from either Ferrari or Mercedes, the current big boys on the F1 block.

While not much is expected to come of Ferrari’s threat – just as not much came, ultimately, of Renault’s threat – it does set up a potential future power struggle for control of Formula One.
