FiA Expected To Approve Andretti Global Bid To Join Formula One

USA-based Andretti Global is expected to be the only successful bid that will brought forward to the FIA for consideration by Formula One to become the 11th team in the world’s most prestigious racing series.

The FIA, motorsport’s governing body, opened a formal application process in February 2023 for teams interested in joining in 2025, 2026 or 2027 and Andretti Global, run by former Former 1 driver Michael Andretti [son of the 1978 F1 world champion Mario Andretti] in a collaboration with General Motors’ luxury Cadillac brand.

Other bids denied include British racing team Hitech [backed by Kazakh billionaire businessman Vladimir Kim] and Rodin Cars, a majority shareholder in Carlin, which runs teams in Formula 4, Formula 3 and Formula 2 [and which was expected to link up with Ferrari].
