FIA Issues Fine To Verstappen For Touching Hamilton’s Car

The FiA – Formula One’s governing organization – has issued a fine of 50,000 Euros [$57,212] to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen after he was caught on video touching the rear wing of both his car and the car of Mercedes’ seven-time defending F1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, after the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix sprint race qualifier – a breach of the FIA’s International Sporting Code concerning rules touching the cars after qualifying.

Hamilton, is already set to receive a five-place grid penalty for Sunday’s grand prix for taking on an extra engine component and is also facing a possible additional penalty after his car’s rear wing was found not to be in compliance with the FiA rules following the sprint qualifying session, if his car is found not to comply, he will be sent to the back of the sprint grid.
