FiA To Disclose Red Bull Penalties In Announcement Prior To 2022 Mexican Grand Prix

The FiA – Formula One’s governing body – has reportedly reached an “accepted breach agreement” with Red Bull over their budget cap penalties from 2021 and 2022 and will announce that news prior to the beginning of festivities for the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix. It is expected that the agreement will protect Red Bull from losing their ill-gotten driver’s title in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix fiasco that saw a rogue race director stepping in to deprive seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, from winning his eighth title.

Earlier in the month, the FiA announced that Red Bull [along with Aston Martin] had committed a ‘minor breach’ of the $145 million budget cap in 2021 [a ‘minor’ breach is defined as under 5% of the cap, or the equivalent of $7.25 million in 2021].

A penalty for Aston Martin for committing a procedural breach – where a team has stayed within spending limits but has committed an administrative error – will also be announced.
