Fog Cancels First Practice Session For 2020 Eifel Grand Prix

The week is not getting any better for Formula One as race officials were unable to conduct the first practice session for the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix at Germany’s famed Nurburgring circuit due to the area being smothered in fog and damp weather.

The weather affected the abilities of the drivers to see but also prevented the medical helicopter from flying and F1 race officials decided that the nearest suitable hospital was too far away by road to justify running the session in the event of an accident and/or potential driver injury.

Defending six-time world champion Lewis Hamilton leads his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas by 44 points in the 2020 driver standings and enters the weekend with the chance to equal Michael Schumacher’s all-time record of 91 grand prix victories.
